While it is too late to apply for a grant to attend through The Canada Council's category for International Residencies, our retreat - unique in the world - has already gained a reputation as a credible project for various funding situations.
Last year, soon after our retreat was officially recognized as fitting into the The Canada Council's International Residencies competition category, the talented B.C. writer Jacqueline Turner was a successful recipient - and the very first to apply in this competition with artists of all disciplines.
For any further information on this or any other details, please contact the retreat at btweenartists@gmail.com Also note: applications and extremely prompt decisions are made on a first-come / first-served basis.
Space is limited to only 9 each session.
Dates have been set and announced for the 2019 return of Lorca's Granada: writers' retreat & colloquia.
Following last year's successful session in May, we will again host writers, other artists and scholars in one of the most pleasant seasons to be in Granada, Spain.
For the magnificent city's astounding monuments, cultural history, food and drink- and not the least for writers - the spirit of Federico Garcia Lorca, we've been committed to the city that recently has become Spain's third most popular touristic city after Madrid and Barcelona.
The retreat which was just a seed of an idea twenty years ago, has testified to the notion that creative artists and thinkers can enjoy a privileged and culturally rich life that is out of reach in their everyday lives at home.
For those daunted by the cost, Lorca's Granada is geared for this hurdle for many artists. It offers very generous deposit terms when applying.

I sat down with chef Garcia for a lengthy interview.

He said he was interested and pleased to have had the chance to bring his flavours to so many – and as he pointed out – at an affordable price without compromising on the extremely fine ingredients essential to whatever comes with his signature.
